Tyres are among the most critical components of a vehicle. Using the wrong car tyres puts you at risk when you drive. Car tyres affect cars' momentum, steering and feel when driving.  With so many tyre brands on the market, the tyres your car currently has might not be best.

A tyre should provide you with a smooth, quiet and comfortable ride. Even though this is the ultimate goal, choosing the right tyre is not easy. Use the following guide to get the best tyres for your vehicle.

The Size of the Tyre

Check your vehicle's logbook to be aware of your car's tyres. Be sure to check the walls of your tyres to find the official details of the tyre size. You should understand the labels and various measurements. The tyre sizes should match.

Besides identifying the tyre size, you will also need to identify the type of tyres that your vehicle needs. There are different types of tyres ranging from all-season tyres, all-road tyres and all-terrain truck tyres to winter and snow tyres, among others.

The Type of Vehicle

Specific vehicles use certain tyres. Understand your car so that you know the type of tyre to buy. In addition, ensure the tyre of your car is well inflated. Under-inflated tyres can be bad because they are unsafe and make you use more fuel. Over-inflated tyres are not safe either. Your car tyres ought to have the manufacturer's recommended pressure.

It would be a good move to invest in premium tyres which will not only last longer but will also but also improve your fuel economy. Under normal usage, a standard tyre can last for up to 50,000 miles (or 80,000 km).

Priorities in Selecting a Tyre

You should consider certain factors when choosing your car tyres. Firstly, understand the weather condition of your region. All-weather tyres will serve you throughout the year, regardless of the weather.  Also, consider the roads in your location. Are the roads rough or not? Think about the terrain as well. Some car tyres are good at handling hilly terrains. Others will not last long if used on rough terrains. Let all these factors guide you when selecting the tyres that you need.

Familiarise yourself with tyre readings before settling for any tyre model. Let your driving dictate the type of tyres you should invest in. Generally, consider car tyres that will last long and perform well and are affordable.
